Summit Mountaineer Weekend

Deadline to register - April 9. Cost $220.00. See Mr. Pietrangelo if interested in late registration. A small late fee will apply. We have been assigned the dates of Thursday August 14 through Sunday August 17. The Summit Bechtel Reserve(SBR), located in Mount Hope, West Virginia, is one of four facilities managed by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). The SBR is the home of the National Scout Jamboree, The Summit High Adventure Base, and the National Center for Scouting Excellence. It is 10,600 acres in size. The facility hosted the 2013 National Scout Jamboree and will be the home for all Jamborees in the future.

Fishing Trip Payment

The payment for the Deep Sea Fishing ($50 per person) is due by the April 30th meeting.

Bring check made out to Troop 79.

Registration is now open for the 2014 Hudson Valley Council CamporAll May 16-18 at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds. Register on the troop website, not the district website.

New Activity Fliers

Troop 79 will now be using activity fliers that contain all the information about events. The blank fliers can be found under the files section. You simply download the flyer, fill in all the information in Microsoft Word and attach it to the events calender page. I have attached a blank activity flyer. 

Camp Yawgoog 2014

Camp Yawgoog signup is now open. The fee for the week, June 29 through July 6, is $440. For families sending two or more boys to camp, there is a discount of $40 for each boy. We are asking for $220 deposit by April 19, and the final payment of $220 by the beginning of June. The $440 fee includes a real nice campsite, with 3 meals a day, and 2 troop T-shirts, to be worn at breakfast and lunch (dinner attire is class A uniform). Please bring the check payable to “Troop 79 BSA” to any troop meeting. We will have a detailed info session about the Summer camp in one of the upcoming troop meetings, for both parents and scouts.
