Sign up for Troop Leadership Training - Registration Still Open!

Posted on Oct 29 2014 - 1:13pm

This class is open to all Scouts!

The purpose of the Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops course is to teach Scouts with leadership positions (or those that aspire to leadership) about the leadership roles in Troops and how to most effectively reach success in that role. It is intended to help Scouts in leadership positions within their troop understand their responsibilities and to equip them with organizational and leadership skills to fulfill those responsibilities. Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops is the first course in the series of leadership training offered to Boy Scouts. Completion of Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops is a prerequisite for Boy Scouts to participate in the more advanced leadership courses - National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) and the National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience (NAYLE).

Sign up for Religious Emblem Classes

Posted on Oct 3 2014 - 9:23am

A Scout is reverent. He is reverent toward God. He is faithful in his religious duties and respects the convictions of others in matters of custom and religion. To encourage members to grow stronger in their faith, religious groups have developed religious emblems programs. The Boy Scouts of America has approved of these programs and allows the emblems to be worn on the official uniform. The various religious groups administer the programs and we are fortunate that two of these programs for Roman Catholic Scouts are offered right here at St. Augustine’s – The Ad Altare Dei and the Pope Pius the XII emblems. The classes are taught on Sunday evenings at the parish center and are open to Scouts from the Rockland district. Two signups are now available on the Troop 79 Web site.  Please go to the signup sheets to see a description of the program as well as age requirements. Please sign up now and take advantage of this awesome opportunity to grow stronger in your faith.
